Base Character

The character from which an accented or special character is formed. For most characters, the base character is obvious - a for á, n for ñ, c for ç, etc. To type capital letters with accents, capitalize the base character - for example, use U for Ú. {{^phone}}

In a few cases, the base character may not be as obvious:

For ß (esset), the base character is s.
For þ (thorn), the base character is t.
For Ð and ð (capital and lowercase eth), the base character may be d or t depending on the language.
For ə and ɛ, the base character is e.
For æ (ash), the base character is a.
For ɔ, the base character is o.
For ¿, the base character is ?.
For ¡, the base character is !.{{/phone}}
