Understanding Learning Requirements

If you are enrolled in a reporting group, the administrator of that group may choose to set a weekly learning requirement or a monthly learning requirement for users in that group. As a member of the group, you are expected to spend at least that amount of time learning the specified language each week or month - though of course you can always do more!

You can {{#web}}click{{/web}}{{^web}}tap{{/web}} Where did this goal come from? below any requirement for more details on which group it was assigned to and when the it is due. For the purposes of weekly requirements, a week runs from 12:00am Sunday to 11:59pm Saturday, based on the time zone chosen by the administrator (which may or may not be the same as the time zone that you selected in your {{#tlo}}user profile{{/tlo}}{{#rr5}}account settings{{/rr5}}). Monthly requirements run from 12:00am on the first day of the month to 11:59pm on the last day, again based on the time zone that the administrator indicated. The Where did this goal come from? link will tell you what time the requirements are due in your own time zone.{{#mobile}} If you complete learning time in offline mode, your requirements will be updated when you sync.{{/mobile}}{{#rr5}} You can also add journal entries for the current day to get credit for learning time outside of the program.

{{/rr5}} If a weekly or monthly requirement has been assigned, the administrator of your reporting group can run reports to verify whether your requirement has been completed.{{#rr5}} Administrators can also tell how much, if any, of the time is self-reported. {{/rr5}}

{{#rr5}}Not all users enroll in reporting groups, and most users who do{{/rr5}}{{#tlo}} Most users do not enroll in reporting groups, and those that do usually{{/tlo}} only enroll in one. Therefore, not all users will have learning requirements, and those that do will usually have either a weekly requirement or a monthly requirement, but not both. However, if you are enrolled in more than one reporting group, it is possible you might have both types of requirement. In that situation, both the weekly requirement and the monthly requirement will appear everywhere that requirements are shown. In rare cases where the requirements for two or more reporting groups conflict, the {{^phone}}Learning{{/phone}}{{#phone}}Goals{{/phone}} screen will list the largest amount of time with the nearest due date in order to give you the best chance of meeting all your requirements. The Where did this goal come from? link will provide details about the individual requirements for each reporting group.

Note: Remember that you can {{#tlo}}{{/tlo}}{{#rr5}}{{/rr5}}sign up to receive notifications when you receive messages from your reporting group. Some administrators may use such messages to remind users about the learning requirements that they have set. You can also set your own daily learning goal to keep yourself on track for your more long-term learning requirements.
